Howell Postoffice Renaming

On June 14th, the Howell Post Office will officially be renamed in honor of Sergeant Donald R. Burgett – a former Howell resident and veteran who served our country in World War II.
Sergeant Burgett – a Screaming Eagle in the 101st Airborne Division – served as a rifleman and machine-gunner in the 1st Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. His service took him throughout the European theater, including to Normandy on D-Day, the Netherlands during Operation Market Garden, and Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. After his service, Sgt. Burgett returned to Michigan and was an active member of several veterans’ organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.
Sgt. Burgett passed away in 2017 at the age of 91, but his legacy of bravery, valor, and service to country will live on. Please join us to honor Sgt. Burgett and his legacy as we rename the Howell Post Office in his memory.
