Howell Social District - 7 days a week; 11am to 10pm
The City of Howell is pleased to announce that our Downtown Social District has been approved. The Social District allows for outdoor alcohol consumption within the commons area located within the designated social boundaries of the downtown.
City officials and Howell Downtown Development Authority (DDA) feel this initiative will help boost sales for approved participating restaurants that were dramatically impacted by COVID-19, will increase downtown foot traffic and drive sales to our downtown merchants as well.
The Social District rules are fairly simple. Howell Social District will be open from 11am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Patrons of participating restaurants and bars within the Social District may purchase, carry, and consume an open alcoholic beverage in an approved plastic container, up to 16 oz. in size, and bearing the Howell Social logo and logo of the business where the beverage was purchased. Only beer, wine, and mixed cocktails are permitted - no shots.
Signage will indicate the Social District Area boundary lines. Outside alcohol is not permitted and alcohol purchased from one Social District participating establishment cannot be taken into any other establishment which serves food and/or alcohol. Some retail merchants may allow visitors to bring their Social District cups into their store, others may not. Please be respectful of the wishes of each individual establishment.
To ensure a good time is had by all, we ask those partaking in alcohol consumption within the Social District to drink responsibly, explore our local businesses, and enjoy their time visiting downtown Howell.
