Mayor Nick Proctor

First elected to city council in November 2013, Nick has been mayor since March 2015. He has resided in Howell since late 2000, although his ancestral ties to the city date back to the mid nineteenth century.
Until his retirement in August 2008, Nick was Head (VP level) of Global Security for British American Tobacco (BAT) based in London. Prior to joining BAT, Nick was with the US Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security where he served as the security attaché at US Embassies in Germany, Sri Lanka, Jordan and Japan. Nick also served as the Executive Director of the Secretary of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council. He currently is an adjunct faculty member with the Security Executive Council.
Nick holds a baccalaureate degree in police administration from Wayne State University and a master's degree in public service management from DePaul University.
Despite a career filled with global travel and residing abroad, Nick still enjoys an occasional trip; a good book, ice hockey and collegiate football. Nick is married with one adult son.
